Pick-up w/Camper? ? ? ? ?

Back in the late 60’s or early 70’s some company made a pick-up truck with a camper mounted in the bed. 1. Does anybody know what company made this? 2. What was the make of the Pick-up truck? 3. Where can I buy this item?
Thanks a lot guys. Ron

The only one I can think of off the top of my head was a custom pickup called the Dodge Deora. It had a camper option. It was originally done by M.P.C., now AMT has the molds, and reissued it a couple of years ago. It should still be available. There may be others I don’t know for sure. You should be able to get it at your local hobby shop, or a online store like WWW.greatmodels.com or try Hobby Heaven. Good luck.

AMT also had an El Camino model with a truck camper! I know, imagine how overloaded it would have been but I have seen people doing stuff as or more stupid. I also think they released a Chevy pickup with a camper unit. I do know I had the El Camino but both it and the camper are long gone to the styrene home in the sky…
I thinmk it was a 1968 to 70 model as I recall.

Is THIS it??

Actually, I think Rick is right; I do seem to remember a full-sized camper on a Chevy pick-up.

(these pics are from the 1968½ Auto World catalog)

FITTER out

Thanx, FITTER, But no. I am ISO the Chevy w/camper.

I was lookinf through my back issues of S.A.E., and saw in the letters section a photo of the box of the model you may be talking about. It was made by MPC, the name was " open road pickup camper", it was a 1969 Chevy CST pickup, no truck bed, but a large camper on the back. The kit # was 403-300. Try Hobby Heaven, or Model Round up. They may have it. Send me your e-mail address, and I’ll scan and send you the clip in the magazine.
