Just finished Hasegawa’s 1/48 F-4J dressed as Vandy 1 from VX-4. I built it OOB, but the kit included some PE parts and white metal landing gear. The decals were a pain, as they usually are on modern a/c because there so many of them; but they went on relatively easily. Black paint is Tamiya from a can. Silver is BMF. Will post more pictures when I can get it to my favorite photo studio, the apron at NAF Atsugi.
Thanks for all the nice comments. I’m kinda bummed, because after looking at a picture of the real thing, I noticed that on my model, the nose gear is bent back a few degrees and the nose gear cover isn’t at the correct angle[banghead]. I’ll get it right next time!

Hey, Roadkill. Don’t think they’re using them any more. I haven’t seen (or heard!) any flying around here for years. Back in the old days, I lived in a little bungalow directly under the final approach to Udorn AB in Thailand, and you definitely knew when one was flying over. I also used to watch them coming in to trap on the USS CORAL SEA in the GOT, and nothing sounds quite the same. The only Phantom around here is the static display on base at NAF Atsugi. Just FYI, they’ve also got an F-14, an A-4, and a Texan.
Looks beautiful. I been thinking about doing a phantom in a couple of monthes. I grew up about 45 minutes from Edwards AB and used to watch the Wild Weasels tear up the low skies.
dang dagne!!! sweeeettt F-4!!! that finish is incredible…and with a can!!! i couldn’t do that with an airbrush. the F-4 is my favorite modern aircraft!!! gotta get me one of those. again, i love that finish friend!!![tup][tup][tup][bow][bow]
