Photos of a Stubby Russian, "Au Natural"!!

You were expecting nude snapshots of Stalin? Well sorry to disappoint you, but would you settle for another stubby Russian - my Seversky P-35 - instead? This is the Hobbycraft 1:48 kit. I picked it up on Ebay for pennies. It has its problems, like the cowl being slightly deficient in girth where it meets the fuselage, and the three-piece canopy is a bit of a dog, but on the other hand, the radial engine was rather good. Anyhoo, it was fun. The antenna wire is of course, 100% genuine wife hair. Special thanks to reader Mike for parting with his spare prop decals for the Ol’ Nerd’s use on this project. Enjoy the pics-

Stalin nude? Believe me, I’m not disappointed at all!! [:D]

Beautiful build… it came together nicely, thanks for showing it!! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Outstanding build, thanks for the look.

Jerry

Very nice build. Great looking P-35.

Regards, Rick

Nice looking build.

Looks great! What did you use for the finish?

of course do you know Academy did a 1/48 scale P-35 as well as a 1/48 scale P-36 and the markings for the P-35 pictured above is for the 27th Pursuit Squadron which later after the war when the USAAF became the USAF the 27th PS became the 27th FS which is currently stationed at Langley AFB Virginia

The bare metal finish is Model Master Chrome Silver. However next time, I think I’ll try Alclad, as I hear it is much more durable.

Man what a great job!!! thanks for sharing.

great job! looks fantastic

Nice little build. Thanks for letting us gawk at it.[8D]

Sweet … you just need Jackie Cochran at the stick now …

Awesome!

Shucks I was hoping for Kruschev glamor shots!

Great job on the Seversky, the forerunner of my favorite all time fighter the jug.

Thanx everyone for the kind comments. Y’know, this project was “stalin” for a while, but then I got a move on, and finally finished. Yuk yuk!

Very nice build! I always liked the looks of that plane and you did a great job on the kit.

Great silver paintjob on the WWII AC!
