Photoetched metal parts

I am new to plastic modeling and have started an old Hasegawa F15E kit. I am familiar with train kits but have never used photoetched details. The instructions say to use “instant glue for metal”. What would that be? Will CA products work to put metal onto plastic? Or does anyone have a favorite glue for this application?

Thanks from a novice who wants to do it right! [%-)]

Yep, when they say “instant glue”, they are referring to CA.

That is what I thought but I also thought and have tried CA on the plastic parts and don’t seem to get a good result. Am I doing something wrong? [?]

Jake,

Make sure the surface area is clean also you can scuff up the pe part a little to help the glue hold it in place.

Good luck

Mark - what I was not aware of was that CA works on these model plastics?

I know it won’t work on some plastic but that it does a great job on metals. [#toast]

All I’ve read here…CA is the way! Make sure all your plastic parts have been washed and dried. I never have trouble with strictly plastic! PE…roughing is a good idea.
