Does anybody know of a good store in Australia, either somewhere to visit in Sydney or on the web for the rest of Australia, that sells photoetch sets for ships and even aircraft. I know of Sandle Hobbies, but I am having alot of trouble getting any information from them…

In which part of OZ are you? There many good hobby shops which carry photo etch parts. Let me know and I will try some of the shops in Sydney. I might suggest Kelletts, Wings and Things or Hobby Co.

Hi Jai,

I actually Live in Blacktown in Sydney but I work in the city. I’ve gone and seen Hobbyco but they say that they don’t have any Photoetch. So do you know anywhere around the city or near where I live that sell them.

I’m also generally after a good hobby shop with a good range of plastic kits. THe only that I know of which is any good if Hobbyco. I know of Frontline Hobbies which is good but they are located in Newcastle, but on the net they seem to have a good range.

I live in Hazelbrook, not all that far away.
I looked up a couple of the Australian model mags and the best I can suggest is to get a copy of one of these. There severeal advetisers in ModelArt Australia that offer etched metal fittings. Quite a few of them are in the Sydney metro area.

g-day lads - l live in perth - you mentioned Sandle Hobbies, are there any others?. I’ve tried hobby shops in perth (all 4 of them) and they don’t carry GMM or WEM.

I suggest you order your photoetch online from either WEM or GMM. If their sets get to the Philippines where I live, I bet they will get to you down under in no time.

That’ll take away the walking and searching. Plus, you can sleep more [:D]

Firestorm based at Figtree in NSW is begining to stock some photo etch products, I would check there website at

While I was based in Canberra I obtained some photo etch from [?]NKR models[?] not sure of the name[?] based at Ballarat in VIC If you check the ACTSMS( ACT Scale Modelling Society) web page and go to their links page I believe that their contact details are there. Their web address is:

Both of these suppliers do business by mail order. Hope this helps.
