I am working on the hobbyboss 1/35 M1070 tank hauler, and there is a TON of PE frets. I know you have to use either epoxy or superglue to attach them to plastic, but is there honestly a difference between how well they work? Or a better way to attach them that I don’t know about?
I used to solely use super glue to attach photo etch parts. I have since bought and tried Gator Glue sold here and I am using it more and more. I like its qualities a bit better and it seems to give when accidentally bumped rather than simply snap of and get shot into oblivion. Takes just a tad bit longer to dry but not too bad.
1 up for gators grip, gives time to get tiddly fiddly bits it into position. i use medium ca for most if i can though
Thank you kindly! figured I’d get some more tips and pointers on using it so I wouldn’t botch such an awesome (and unfortunately expensive) kit.
Another option is white glue. Many of us thin it 1:1 with water for gluing pe. It is good for smaller parts, not for real large pieces. One advantage is that it dries transparent and without the gobs CA or resin sometimes leave. Also, it sets very slowly so you have a real long working time, though you have to wait longer before resuming work.
I use Gator’s Grip for small stuff, and CA for large pieces or pieces that need to be held down (color PE seatbelts being the main culprit).
