In between rain showers I was able to take these new pictures a short time ago, hope you like these pics because they were costly. A heavy rain shower came upon me with little warning and some parts of the photobase were damaged with water damage, how bad I won’t know for a few days when everything drys out[:(]
Anyway, these pictures are slightly better than the last few pictures I have posted.

No work was done on the new hanger this weekend but I did start on my 1/72 scale Opel Blitz truck, what a great little kit! If the rest of the construction is as easy as what I did today, this thing will be ready to paint soon.
Sometime this week I plan on ordering some AA weapons for the photobase, the Hasegawa 1/72 kits look like I could build them with not much trouble even though I mainly build aircraft and have no armor modeling experience. When I build them
I will post some pics of the AA models to get some helpful suggestions on how
I can improve them.

The fist photo is a ‘‘Spy Photo’’ of the top secret Focke Wulf Flitzer taken by an undercover agent sent to gather information about the German jets, thats why the trees are in the way, the picture was taken from the edge of a forested area.
The next photo is a ‘‘snap shot’’ of the result of the above mentioned spy mission.

this thing is really cool! I like the black and white one the most, makesit look almost real. As for the rain, seems kind of weird that someonecouldhave rain right now. Its 70 degrees and in the next weeks it will rise to the high 90s and 100s!!

At first look I thought the B&W pic was the real thing and the color pic was your diorama.I was thinking what a nice job you did representing the building and its background.Then I realized that both pics are of your diorama.The spy idea is great too! Cheers! John.

After looking over the photobase after it dried out it should be alright, on the Oregon coast where I live sudden rain showers are a part of springtime and I should have known better than to trust the weather to allow me to take a few pictures!
duckman, the size of the photobase is slightly smaller than a standard size plywood sheet, I made a couple new sections of the photobase last weekend they are about four feet long and sixteen inches wide.
This week I intend to send off for 1/72 scale kits of the Ostwind, Wirblewind, and 88 flak weapons. I want my expensive airfield well protected.
The reason the photobase was exposed to the weather was I get my best photographs using natural light, the colors are so much better and natural looking plus I don’t need expensive lighting systems.

This photobase project has been a major drain on my time I have for making models and I really appreciate the kind words of all you guys in this forum have given my work so far. Sometimes I get fed up with this photobase and nearly quit the hobby a few times when things don’t go as planned or take too long to do.

I have only had my camera about four months now and am just now getting used to taking pictures of my models and when my photobase is finished I will be trying all kinds of different camera angles to try and produce interesting photos.
Glad to hear you like the airfield, when the new hanger is built it should really help the overall quality of my pictures. Check this forum in a couple weeks to see the hanger and other additions to this photobase project.

Great work, I like popping in and looking at your new airfield shots. Good luck with the AA. There are some really good small scale armour guys in the Armor forum that would be happy to give you any advice if you need it. Keep up the good work.

Future pictures will be better than I have posted so far, there are several camera angles and other things I plan to try when everything gets built for this photobase.

I know how you feel,I once spent 15 years and 6000 hours of shoptime plus research in an HMS Victory diorama in 1/72.Many times I wanted to quit(and I did for awhile) but it was the best thing I ever did in modeling.Now working on an airplane diorama for a year or two is a piece of cake.In just about everything I do in art, I start with great enthusiasm ,reach a dry spell with no motivation,and then as I see it starting to come together that old feeling kicks back in and I am glad I hung in there.Then its on to the next project.I am sorry but quitting is not an option now that you have tapped into your own creativity . I mostly build aircraft models and never attempted a diorama before, I never thought a diorama would be that hard to do. How wrong I was, just making this photobase has taught me these things are not all that quick and easy to do as I once thought. Making an airfield is an easy sort of diorama to do for someone who knows what they are doing but for me it is very slow going, I can’t imagine what a real diorama must be like to do!
I have so many new and interesting kits on my build pile that I get sick of my current photobase project because it is taking so much longer to do than I planned on. Part of the problem is my job and the extra time I have been working lately which leaves hardly any time for building models. I get frustrated after seeing everybody else put out new models every week or two while I have been bogged down with the photobase. A couple times I almost tossed all the scale model stuff in the rubbish bin and put my R/C planes on charge!
That is not an option I really want to carry out!

[8D]Your color photos are great ,but I agree the bw picture is just the real thing.
I like a lot german fighters,and luftwaffe ,and you have a very nice job there.
