looks great! I really like the cockpit… I have been working mostly on that since I got back to modelling… making a good looking cockpit… nobody else hardly sees them (once you are finished) but YOU know what went into it…
is that the Tamiya version perchance? I have looked at that one several times and thought about buying it… was curious about the fit etc… if it’s a Tamiya so should be good but would like a first hand account…
Thanks FitinJoe, Pingtang and tho9900.
Tho, yes it is the Tamiya kit. It is going together very nicely and the fit is great. I have had to do minimum filling and sanding. The instructions are nicely done. There is a decal for the instruments and seat belt. I used the seat belt decal, but next time would use a PE part…looks better. I used a white pencil on the instruments (read that somewhere) and gently rubbed the color into them. BTW…you can use a red pencil for the instruments that require them also.
Again, thanks for the encouraging words. Will have more pictures as the build progresses.
Really looks good. You mentioned that the seat harness was a decal…if you didn’t say anything, I thought is was an AM or detailed scratchbuilt one.[:)]
Looks like you’ve got a pretty good gap to fill between the wings and the fuselage but other then that it looks great! JK about the gap, it does look great so far.
Sanderso, Dragonfire, Dan and DJModels,
Thank you for the nice words. I tried to make this pit area really nice as I will have the canopy open.
Dragonfire - Thanks for the seatbelt comment. If I had to do it again, I would use an aftermarket PE belt.
Dan - Those gaps can be annoying, can’t they. I was test fitting the wings. If you push the wings on too far on this bird they will lock into place. Wasn’t ready to do that quite yet.
Will keep you posted with more pictures as the build comes along.
Again, thanks for the encouragement.
Missile068, Looks good from here. Mine is about 75% done and the only thing I did add was some pe parts, I didnt like the look of the decal either. This kit has been fun to build. What camo are you going with?
Thanks for the comments. I think that I am going to use the darker of the splinter camo pattern. The one that calls for Braun-violett.
I agree as to the PE parts for the seat belts. This will be an OOB build. It has been a fun and easy build. Tonight the wings go on to eliminate that large gap in the photo…LOL
those seatbelts look pretty good for decals though… most of the time I prefer to leave em off versus have the shallow 2D effect of them, those look right nice!
Tho, thanks on the belts. I was surprised by them too.
Thad, I am just waiting for the Sooners to fall. My team is the Wolverines.
Will be doing the last bits before painting tonight. More pictures on the way.
