Peugeot 206 WRC 2003

Found a great looking decal set from Renaissance today and bought it not thinking of my former promisses to only build bikes… (the misses will go bananas)
Is there someone who have built the Tamiya 1/24 kit and have something to say about it. I guess it’s well fit as Tamiyas usually are but please come with some comments if you have any. Feel free to inform me of some basics to car modelling as well as I have only built bikes before. Is there any MUSTS to think of?
regards
Joel

Joel,
There’s no secret to making good models - just try to have fun, learn from the experiences you’ll have (how do you think we all learned? From our mistakes!!), and have the same patience you show when you build bikes. Car models are just the same, really. They just have 4 wheels.
Take your time preparing the body (as you would with the fairings on a bike), make sure you test fit everything so you don’t have nasty surprises AFTER the thing has been painted, and take your time. More importantly, take your time. Did I mention that you should take your time?
I’ve ruined countless finishes by rushing the build. Take your time!
I haven’t yet built the Peugeot WRC yet, but I’d think it’s safe to say that just about ANY Tamiya model will be trouble free. In fact, I’ve found that you have to be pretty heavy handed to actually have any problems with any Tamiya kit.
When you get a little further into the build, feel free to ask any specific questions - and better still, post a few pictures as you build the thing. We all love to see other people’s work.

Have to agree! I have built an old 206 (the silver one - can’t remember the year it raced in). It went together like a dream!

As said above - take your time. And if you can do a decent bike, this should not give you headaches!

ENJOY!!

Did anyone mention take your time!

I generally start with the body, remove any flash (very rare on a Tamiya), remove any mould lines, add the mirrors (if they are painted the same colour as the body) and any other body panels then prep, paint and put aside. That will mean it is nice and hard by the time you’ve finished the chassis, suspension, seats, dash etc.

It will be a marvellous build, maybe I should start the one I’ve got too
