Periscopes and Exhausts

I need some help/advice.

Periscopes:

  1. Where would be the best source to obtain periscopes for a Jagdpanther (late)? I want to replace the ones supplied with the Tamiya kit with better ones.

  2. What would be the best colour to paint the periscopes and what colour would the glass be on the periscope - clear?

Exhausts:

  1. Where would be the best source of exhausts to replace the kit exhausts on the Jagdpanther?

  2. Can someone out there give me some ideas on weathering the exhausts. On a number of the models I’ve seen, the orange colour some chaps use seems too orange. The other thing I need to know is what the best thing would be to use for the burnt part of the exhaust - spraying it with an airbrush or “painting” on weathering chalks?

Fine Molds does a set of German periscopes, molded in clear plastic. The idea is that you paint the metal housing and leave the two lens areas open. The glass was clear but if viewed from certain angles, appeared to have a greenish tinge.

Moskit from Russian used to make real metal and oxidized replacement exhausts. I’ve heard they were out of business but try your favorite online sellers for back stock. I use weathering pastels because it allows more control and subtlety.

I recommend Moskit, if you can find a set, very nice items. I don’t know if they made a JP set, but I would think so.
