Pegasus Hobbies snap-fit kits any good?

Well here’s my finished Zero. Turned out pretty good I think.

And my store manager did give me a Pegasus spitfire to do. I’m just about ready to glue the wings to the fuselage.

That looks very nice! Dare I say better than the Tamiya 1/48 A6M2? I am definitely going to have to look at some of those Pegasus kits for my collection.

I’ve done the FW190, the Zero and working on the Spitfire and those three are of the same quality. The P-51 I’m working on is a little different, the plastic is different and the panel lines while they are engraved are larger than the others. the fuselage seem on the bottom is hard to fill. (plus I’m really scared of the natural metal I have to do it in)

I’m hopefully going to do one of the 109’s and the hurricane as well. Pegasus kits not as fancy as some of the big name stuff but with a little work I think they come out really good, And it’s good practice for when i do break out the expensive ones.

I have to say that falconmod seems to have hit the nail on the head. of alll the Pegasus models that I have in my collection, (a handful) the P-51B/C is the only one that has an odd softer lower quality plastic, with surface details and panel demarcation lines that, while recessed, are still toy like and soft and a bit big and out of scale.

I’m not sure why this is, but I have seen several unpainted Pegasus airplane models alone, and they all seem to have better, cleaner and tighter detail than that P-51B/C kit.

Unfortunately so, as I bought that kit to build as a Tuskegee bird for my wife, and the kit is cast in that silver dyed plastic that for some reason sometimes seems to render a softer, more tupperware like plastic. Im not sure why that is…Im sure someone knows about that.

The cockpit details or rather lack thereof are so soft and minimal and basic on that kit, that Im having trouble enjoying it.

I also plan to do the natural metal finish on mine, but to circumvent the typical “flawless prepaint. No scratches whatsoever” work you gotta do to mkae it look good, I’m going to bare metal foil it where I can and paint where i HAVE to.

The V-2 however, looks great and already presentable enough out of the box, with minor detailing needed to step it up.

Ok, Just finished the spitfire, I think it turned out good, the camo on the spit’s is so dark its hard to show any weathering, and the canopy is a little thick, but it is after all a snap tight. I’m about 3/4 of the way done with the 109G (The black tulip nose) they have so I’ll be posting pictures of that soon.

Ok, here’s another one out of the factory door. [:D]

Now I just have the P-51B left. I guess I have to get to the NMF sometime! [bnghead]

Wow! That’s a beauty! I’m not one who was big on German planes but I know a wonderful looking build when I see one. You made that one look purdy!
