I recently purchase a Fujimi F-14A Black Knights kit in 1/72. As I am scanning through Squadron looking up PE parts, I notice that they are labeled for different kits. Can these items be used in any kit or are they kit specific. I have never used PE parts before and if this question was answered before, please forgive my ignorance. I ran a search through the forums and I didn’t find the answer. (Sometimes I miss the forest because of the trees though). Any help on this would be appreciated. Also if anyone has any feedback on this kit or any other newer Fujimi offering it would be a great help. Thanx

Your assumption that some of these photo-etch sets being scale and kit specific are correct.Some of these parts can be used for other kits of the same scale other than what has been named but ,it is a little hit and miss.Since you have never used photo-etch before,I would suggest using kit specific photo-etch to begin with.Then as your skills progress you could buy multiple sets for one kit that you intend on building as a “showstopper” for a contest…if that is your thing.This forum is filled with people that will be more than willing to give you some tips on how to work with photo-etch products.Were all here to share ideas and new techniques.You just have to be patient with this stuff because it can get VERY frustrating at times.My first experience using photo-etch was very trying…but the more I used it the better I got.Just keep a positive attitude…if you have any other questions…just feel free to ask! And I would like to welcome you to this forum… there are some very smart and talented modelers here that you have the opportunity to learn from,not to mention the wealth of information available here.I would also like to invite you to join the F-14 Tomcat Group Build going on here.I am currently not a part of this build but there are quite a few people involved.In case your not familiar with what a Group Build is,it is a group of people that get together in the forum and build a model that is specific to a topic.In this case it is specific to the F-14…any version,any scale,any paint scheme…it just has to be an F-14.We exchange ideas,experiences,and post pics of our progress.
I think you have until June to complete your model but you might want to ask the guys just to make sure…anyway here is a link to the GB…

I would like to thank you for the post. That helped me out and I really appreciate it. I would also like to thank you for the welcome. I really enjoy this site and hopefully I can bring something new to it. I will give the Tomcat GB a try, it sounds like a good time.
