PE confusion!

At the risk of exposing my ignorance, [D)] I have some questions about PE parts. I have recently been searching for 1/48 PE parts for a Tamiya P-51D. Eduard lists four different sets. I understand the pre-painted set, but what makes the zoom sets different? They also list, eu48273 and eu48197, and another set I don’t remember the number, all for the same aircraft. [%-)]

Why so many different sets? (they all appear to be similar)
What’s the difference with the zoom sets?
Will these parts work for any p-51?
What are placard sets, and why aren’t they included with the regular sets?
Thanks for your consideration!

Jerry,

I’m sorry I cannot help you on this one, but look forward to reading the responses as this would be an education for me as well! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

I am sure that Mel Sharkskin can answer this question.

MEL, Where are you??

Kurt

Jerry,

As I know the zoom sets a reduced in number of pieces, it has mostly cockpit detail parts…Go to Eduard website (www.eduard.com) and check the differences…Almost every set has a PDF file with the instructions and you will see the diference on the number of pieces…
Every kit is a different one, but almost certainly most of the parts will be useful for a general detailing project…If you are working on a specific version a dedicated set should be better…To discover which set belongs to which kit you can check on the Eduard page too, normally on the first page of the instructions there is an indication of the recommended kit…
Hope it helps you…

And placards are those little instruction panels that you would normally see littering
a perfectly nice cockpit :0) - Look at some pictures of real cockpits and you’ll see them.

Placards come in many different shapes and sizes and I guess is eduards way of adding one more “must have” items to the list in accurization. And will allow you to have enogh for several projects of different types.
