Pe-2 Dive Brakes Questions

Hey now…Anyone know:

1: What were they made out of? ( my guess is wood)

2: What color were they painted?

MPM instructions are not well known for their color call-outs. They are shaded in the paint guide that makes me believe they are not lt. blue like the underside of the fuse. Maybe red like US A/C dive brakes?

  1. can’t find a definate answer on this, but my guess would be metal of some sort, as they are VERY thin.

  2. looks to be the same light blue as the underside on both the outer & inner surfaces.

Found this link above…has a couple pics of a Pe-2 and you can make out a dive brake…looks like Lt. blue but still cant see what material its made of. Then again, the Ruskies made flying tanks so theyre probably made outta iron…LOL
