when where and how was the patton used?
In Vietnam the M48A3 was used, the M46 was used in Korea
the M60 was used in the first Gulf war
the M47 was used in the Battle of the Bulge
they were all called Pattons
theres also the middle east wars
Patton had a tank named after him while he was still an active-duty officer?
I would have thought otherwise…interesting.
The Pershing arrived late in WWII, but I was pretty sure the series nicknamed “Patton” didn’t begin production until the 50’s? You guys correct me if I’m wrong on this one.

LOL
I would LOVE to know how to translate that sequence of smilies…
What he means was, the movie “battle of the bulge” some british types (capt.caveman) have a twisted sense of humor-such as the steering wheel is on the RIGHT side of the car…wackos. They couldn’t find enough Tiger II’s was it? to use in their film, so they called the M47 tiger 2’s, and chaffees were the shermans right?

Ooooh…in the MOVIE Battle of the Bulge…hehe…stupid me.
Yeah, I found it funny that they used Pattons in the movie Patton, as well.
The Americans in that movie called everything “Tiger”, even tho they clearly weren’t and looked nothing like. (I think they were borrowed/leased from the Spanish Army…I’m pretty sure captain caveman is right about them being M47s even though I haven’t seen the movie in…a long time)
…and now that you said Chaffees, I think that’s right, too…but I’m an old guy and my memory is…poorish.
…plus, I’m a little shaken up right now as I have never been wink-wink-tongue-wink-winked before!
the M-60 came out during the 1960’s, since Vietnam wasn’t considered “tank country” they were not sent there but went to Europe first
This site will give you a full rundown of all Patton tankvarients and where/when they were used.
