I’m using an Ingersol-Rand ES2 mini-compressor rated at 2.5 BAR with a generic single action airbrush (suction feed). I recently purchased a new Paashe single action airbrush kit, however, much to my dismay, the connector to the compressor is just a hair too large. I am also in need of a regulator, however, I’m not sure what to buy.
I am experiencing several minor problems right now, the most annoying is clogging of the airbrush. Once cleaned, I still have problems with paint flow through the airbrush. This is especially frustrating right now as my current build is a discontinued 1/48 PBY-5 from Monogram. (With beaching gear, not the tricycle gear) Uneven paintflow is making painting of the large surface areas of this kit discouraging to say the least.
Any recommendations?

No expert here but I’ve had a Paasche VL double action for about 18 years. Don’t know what psi you’re running but I find mine needs a bit more than I see mentioned around here, usually closer to 20psi or so. Also find, depending on the paint type/brand, I may need to thin a bit more. I use mostly enamels and a gloss will require more thinning than a flat. As an aside, I’ve just about decided not to use glosses anymore since I’m gonna flatcoat it anyway and the gloss is a bear to lay down right. Lastly, no matter what I do I sometimes have to open the trigger all the way for a moment (not on the model!) to get the paint flowing again. Hope this helps.
According to my info, 2.5BAR equals 36.75 PSI. Should have put that into the post. But, that’s why I need to find the correct regulator.
yeah, I used to wing it and then got a proper regulator. I also, just recently, added an inline water filter which I had ignored. Seems to have greatly reduced the spitting, just as I saw posted here and, come to think of it, the paint seems to flow more reliably, too. That would figure. Got one at Home Depot for $11.
I use a Sears 1hp dry piston w/ 7gal tank I bought for $160. Made more sense to me than the high priced hobby units and I can use it around the garage. Tank evens the air pressure, cuts down on running the compressor and it uses universally available 1/4" fittings, hoses, etc. Got all my attachments on quick connect fittings, makes life a lot easier. Only downside is the friggin noise but since it doesn’t run but once an hour or so it’s not so bad.
