Hi guys, I recently took a trip home to Pa. where I keep a lot of my older models/dio’s, and photo’d this one for your viewing pleasure. It’s unconventional, and was inspired partly by that “Twilight Zone” episode where the old Kommandant goes back to the former concentration camp, and partly by a dream I had after reading a book on the camp system when I was in my teens. Having said that, it’s definitely NOT meant as any sort of “political statement!” Just a spin on the ordinary dio…
It’s titled “Partisan Hunt”, and shows an Sdkfz 222 (?)–the venerable old Tamiya kit–built OOB, and before “chipping” was in vogue. I had only been modeling seriously for maybe 4 years at this point, so the 222 is nothing special; it’s following a squad into a cemetery where partisans have been seeking refuge. Ah, but the hunters have become the hunted! I hope ya enjoy it!
Here’s the 222…notice the “evil dead”! (avenging dead?) The tombstones are Verlinden, the wall is the old Italeri kit.

…the military policeman leading the soon-to-be ill-fated mission!..all figures are Tamiya except this guy; can’t remember his origin. The ground is a Verlinden sheet…
When I entered this in a local contest, one of the judges placed it in the “fantasy” category where it looked as about as “at home” as, well, a Klingon Warbird in the “tank destroyers” category! [(-D]I think it took 2nd behind some Star Trek thing…oh well, can’t win 'em all![sigh]

I remember that Twilight Zone episode! I like the Dio. It’s a fun one. Little surprises hidden about. Looks like it was fun to build. Not getting 6 kinds of twisted making a model look exactly like one tank on one day.
By the way. In your avatar I asume thats you but it’s small and I keep thinking “Where did he get a pic of Bruce Dickinson on a dirt bike”. [{(-_-)}]
Hi Doog: That is one of the coolest dios I’ve seen. [tup] I just love crossover themes, especially in WW2 settings (and nazis and horrors seems to go hand in hand).
I’ve only seen a couple of dios of this sort.

Nothing I love more than a diorama that isn’t the typcial of a panther crew standing beside their tank in a rubble strewn street! I love the creativity!

kcmat, that IS me on my race bike; I laughed at your comment about Bruce Dickinson! Can’t say I’ve ever heard that before! Unfortunately, that bike is in complete teardown at the moment undergoing a piston rebuild and possible bottom end (haven’t gotten that far yet!)…she’s got some years on her, being a '97, but I keep rebuilding her cuz she treats me well–plus she’s FAST with all the mods I’ve done on her…! [:D]
Tony–that dio link was COOOL!!! It reminded me of the animated “Heavy Metal” movie where the bomber pilot finds his whole crew has turned into zombies–do you remember that one?! I LOVE the dio! Hard to believe some stiffs on that site were actaully disdainful of the idea though; some people got no imagination I guess! []

I’ve been going crazy ooking for a french modeller that I found a year ago, that fits into the crossover category. Actually, he’s into creating so fantastic dream-like dioramas that he’s hard to put in any category! Two hours browsing paid off though. He’s name is Jean Bernard Andree, and he got 7 dios on Armorama:
The one I especially was thinking of was his dio “Wet feet”, a kind of WWII goes H.P. Lovecraft, a small vignette set on the eastern front, where two soviet soldiers discovers someting really mystical in a lake. It’s here:
Wow, I gotta say I have NEVER seen anything to rival his work, in terms of sometihing being thought-provoking, provacative and unique “art”–that’s the work of a true genius!The water effects are scary-good! Never seen anything like it!

A zombie dio!! That is the first dio I have ever seen with Zombies! Better yet, Zombies vs Nazis! Ever seen that movie Zombie Lake? Nazi Vampire Zombies…
