Parking Spot

Started a new diorama based in Iraq. The vehicle is an old Hobbycraft BMP that I built OOB last year and was very unhappy with so I repainted and redetailed it including opening some hatches and adding interior detail through the hatch openings. Talk about building a ship in a bottle!

Here are some shots so far:

ORIGINAL

REDO

Will update more as I finish it.

Check out www.armor.se ! !

Wow, the redo looks WAY better than the originial model! Looks like its going to be a good dio

Nice job on the reworking…that had to be a unique challenge!

Can’t wait to see the finished dio…

It was certainly different…

Say drucifer, I went to check out your site and couldn’t get into your gallery! ! Is the site new?

Really wanted to check out your scene with the Bradley above.

Looks great, and the added detail really brings it to life. With all the BMP kits out there it really makes one wounder, why no one has made an interior set for the BMP’s. SKIF modles makes a BMP-3 with “some” interior detail but at least thats a start. Keep the updates coming.

Yeah, I have that one btw. Just found it on e-bay last month! w00t!

I have this bmp 1 now with another one in the box still, as well as DMLs bmp2 and the above mentioned bmp 3. Ready to build up a neat side-by-side someday maybe. But probably not.

Good job! Those hobby craft kits are a real gamble.

Fabulous work, scorn!!! [:)] There is definitely many virtues and rewards in revamping an old build, and man, you’re bringing them all out!! Thank you very much for showing off your work, and I look forward to seeing it continue! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Great start on the dio.

Thanks folks. Thanks Hooker.

I have changed the building a little bit by making the walls slightly higher as I haven’t seen many pics of gutted shells in Iraq yet as you see in some of the Israeli conflicts. More pics soon.

Great job!

Well, gonna be delayed on this one. My daughter’s dog treated the building as a chew toy when I set it on a table to dry in the sunlight.

The dog climbed up on a chair then onto a TABLE to get it! ! !

Is that nuts or what?

Anyway, new building is mostly built, just need to texture the walls and detail the inside. Then weathering, weathering, weathering.

Great job on the redo Scorn. Keep us posted on the dio, it looks like a very interesting piece.
What will you do in the way of figures?

I was thinking of just having either a British or US team checking it out for souveniers maybe.

I have a couple of Dragon sets around as well as a Tamiya or two of Modern infantry. Might mix and match there and see what I get .

OK.

UPDATES:

New building as well as a new floor.

More to come.

If I can keep the dog away that is.

Great work! Keep us updated.

Nice redo. I like the new house better than the one you had before. It just looks a little bit low but that’s probably because of the size of the vehicle. What did you make them out of?

The house is made from foam board I picked up at Hobby Lobby for 2.00. The wood I purchased at Hobby Lobby as well for .32 for each 3 foot section.

Thank goodness for the Short Line Chopper III ! !

I set up a utility pole made from a 3/16 dowel to help with the hole in the roof also.

More pics tomorrow. The celluclay groundwork is drying.

UPDATES:

The shine is from a fresh overcoat spray. It is already gone now. I decided to add the utility line after I made the new house as I cut the roof too much for the BMP alone to have caused that damage.

Long way to go, but it is getting closer and the final scene can now be imagined easily.
