Hey guys!!!
I posted this in the General Modeling Forum but, I got to thinking, this might be a better place to put it.
So, here goes.
If this is a repeat of an earlier post? I apologise.
I was just over at ARC and got this straight from the horses mouth uh, keyboard I guess I should say. Paragon is going back into production!!!
Not sure of a start up date but Neil, the proprietor, said that ALL of the old molds were just sitting there waiting for a home to work from.
Neil also said that there WOULD be some new projects in the works!!!
Anyway, I thought that some of you might like to know this if you didn’t already know it.
Last I heard from Neil was that he was scouting a site to re-establish his operation and expected to be back in production by the end of this year. Of course I’m sure Murphy’s Law will have some input on those plans.
Hey Matt.
The last post I read was from just a couple of days ago. He had found a place BUT (here’s where Murphy kicks in), it fell through. He was disappointed, to say the least.
He also stated that he was flying back to England on Monday, August 2 and had another place to check out. It seemed very promising.
If you can feel someone’s emotions through letters on a screen, he seems to be very excited about getting things up and running again.
so, whats the big deal? do they make cool kits? i’ve never heard of them!! ofcourse, i just got into modelling a little over a year ago and am still learning all the manufactures and such. keep us posted, sounds interesting. later.
This is good news. Hopefully with the Internet and forums like ARC and FSM, and distributors like Squadron, etc., these guys can concentrate their marketing to their target audiences and be more effective and efficient with their promotional, transaction, and distribution costs.
Hey Chris.
Paragon was what was called a cottage industry that produced resin updates, conversions, wingfold sets and things of that nature.
They had a fairly large catalog. Swanny used their B-17 set for the E model I believe it was.
A few years ago, I had seen their offering of a B-26K Counter Invader set but, was never able to find it. Then all of a sudden they were no longer in business.
As near as I can tell Neil, the owner of the company, decided it was time to take a break and closed up shop.
Anyway, he is in the process of trying to get everything back up and running to start production again.
Randie is correct, Neil Burkill (Mr. Paragon) makes some really sweet detail sets. I did use his B-17E set on that conversion and have several more of his items in the stash. It is not uncommon to see recastes of his stuff show up on Evil Bay. If you want to build a super-detailed B-17 you want his stuff, if you want an accurate A6 Intruder or Prowler you want his stuff. The list goes on and on.
This was one of the items asked for in particular in the post that I read it in.
According to Neil? A definite yes. In fact, the way I understood him, the entire catalog will eventually be offered once again PLUS new items as well.
Great news. When he was still in business I got some flaps for the 1/48 Buccaneer, but missed out on a lot of other possible updates. If the stuff reappears, I’ll pay better attention! I also remember a lot of cool stuff to improve the 1/48 Jaguar and Tornado. I really can’t wait[:P].
