Parade of 1/72 scale Armor. WARNING!! LOTS OF PICS!

I wanted to put that warning up as a courtesy to those with slow connections or computers.

I have finally finished my Ruaaian BMP 2 APC, and my Iraqi T 55 Enigma! In between that, I have also built two weekend kits from JB Models. (I call them ‘weekend kits’ because it only took me a weekend to finish them!) Not only that, but I also took down and refurbished three models that are more than 25 years old.

Anyway, enough talk. Everyone line up for my Parade of Models!

First in line: My 1/72 scale Russian BMP 2 APC. I made it the command version:

Then, my coup de grace: Iraq’s T 55 Enigma MBT in 1/72 scale:

I daresay, that built up quite well, especially for an ACE kit! I think it turned out so good that I let it pass by twice! [:D]

Now, here are my weekend builds. The first one is JB Model’s 1/76 scale Austrailian M 113 Fire Support Vehicle:

Followed by JB Model’s 1/76 scale British Saracen APC:

Then there are the models I refurbished while waiting for parts and paint to dry. I started with my 27 year-old U.S. Army M113 APC:

Followed by two German tanks. My 29-year old Panzer II was pretty easy to do:

While my Panzer VI (early) required a little more work:

There they are! My most recent Armor projects complete! This doesn’t include the four Aircraft I’m working on, or the three helicopters either, since they belong in other Forums.

Would you believe that I have two jobs and sleep eight hours a night? [:-,] It’s true! [swg]

Happy New Year everyone, and I hope you enjoyed the Parade! [4:-)][:D]

they look great
i like the Aussie M113, did Tamiya do one of them?

possibly in 1/35th scale they did. If not, it should be easy to kitbash one with a Saladin turret, some sheet styrene and an M 113 kit.

And since my BMP didn’t get off the starting line, here it is:

Nice looking collection Duke … well done !!

Well done indeed!

Yes, Tamiya did make the M113 with the Saladin turret in 1/35. It’s been OOP for a while though.

Nice stuff, Duke. The enigma is superb.

Great parade, Duke. Those are great looking models indeed. I like the Enigma best. Im inspired to begin work on my own T-55. Except that Im not as fast a builder as you are, so it could take me some time. Thanks for sharing that.

Nice work!

I take my hat off to all 1/72 kit makers[bow]

Very nice looking Duke. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Eric

WOW !!!
a belated x-mas present 2 us all from the Duke !
love ur Enigma, and all the rest !
how was the JB models M113 as a build ? i’m thinking about ordering one…
2 jobs & 8 hours of sleep doesn’t leave a heck of a lot of modeling time left over
so i’m even more impressed ! [;)]
Happy New Year !

Nice job on the tanks and vehicles…the camo on the fire support vehicle is outstanding!

Regards, Dan

Thank you everyone! I appreciate all your comments! It feels good to be able to share this Hobby with so many appreciative people!

Frosty the JB Models M 113 was a very basic kit that went together very easily. It had very little flash. The tracks and bogies are all molded together so that made things simple! Actual construction was done in about 6 hours, includiing painting the tracks, which I did before installing the Top Hull. While the paint was drying, it was a simple thing to build the top hull and turret. The next day, I installed the top hull, applied the last of the parts, and started painting the camouflage pattern. Real easy!

Holy… It’s an invasion of 1/72’s! Great job there Duke. A boost to those getting into the Braille scale.[;)]
