Par for the course!!!!!

MAN!!!..I just spilt about a half a container of CA accelerator all over my Accurate Min. SBD-3 decal sheet!!! AAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGG!!! i kill me!! Will AM replace my decals? for pay ofcourse! later.

OUCH!!! I managed to get water on a set the other day… don’t know what I was thinking… they’re bubbled a little now but maybe salvagable…

I think they make the AM decals for the SBD’s… check squadron… if the decals are like the ones for the SBD-5 I built the side star is a little big anyway… I got the superscale US Aircraft marking set, WWII and looked up how many inches it would have been in real life and it was smaller than the one in the box… not much but enough to be a cleaner fit… (the decals from superscale have the real life equivalent inches posted next to the decal)

hey Tom…i just went back after a coupla hours after the incident, and they don’t look damaged at all!!! i may try and use them and if it don’t work, then try to replace them. hmmmmm…i’m stoked!! maybe i can salvage them!! later.

Chris,

worth a try, but let me know how those side US emblems go… they were a lil cantankerous with me… that’s when the research dept went to work and I bought the superscale set… well worth it. if you build a lot of US planes… has about 30 emblems total… about 6 of each size… the one that came in the SBD-5 kit was 2" bigger than the specs for that model said… (scale inches not actual inches) so it made it difficult to fit to the body…

AM or another Co. just came out with the SBD-1 also I believe, I might build it along with the 3 and 4 just to have the collection!!! (from what I remember there never was a 2, just a prototype… that had problems, more than the 1 had)

–Tom…A group build of one–

i’ll let ya know bubba!! later.

Chris, Tell me the truth you were trying to build and watch football at the same time wernt you.

LOL, no, it happened last night, i was moving some stuff around on my bench and didn’t know the cap wasn’t on good, it got bumped and it spilled everywhere, after the decals dried over night, they don’t look damaged!! we shall see. later.

Maybe you may have gotten lucky? Hope so!!! Just in case, put some Decal-it over them just in case the finish is damaged. Look on the bright side, at least you wern’t stupid like me and poured a cup of coffee (those 2 qt 7-11 containers) all over the box containing all my after-market decals. That was the only incident that caused me to quit modeling for over a year. A whole collection of MicroScale decals turned into brown mush.[banghead]

OUCH!!! I guess I have been lucky to date… ::hitting self on head:: Knock on wood…

I once had a dog teach me two valuable lessons about decals. 1) don’t set the cigar box on the floor 2) Dogs think anything is food. Yep the little SOB ATE the entire contents of the box. I no longer have that dog. I gave him and his eating habits to a neighbor that thought he was the cutest thing. The last I heard he was using her living room furnishings as a buffet.

i imagine a dog smoking a cigar…

ouch, worst i’ve ever done is get some overspray on my decals for my hornet
