Paper Models?

I have heard of these, but what are they?
Anyone have any experience with them?

I used to mess around with those when i was younger. It is like a paper object that you can paint and or just color, then you cut the shape out and fold it however you would like

Beav,
I belong to the IPMS Orange County chapter. There are a few paper modeler people at the club. They are card stock grade printed with the image of the tank, plane, ship castle whatever on it, then it is cut out and folded / glued together. They use Aileen’s white glue to assemble them. I must admit that from a distance they represent a fair representation of the subject. Upon closer examination you can see the printed Zimmerit or ships rivets etc. Kinda fake looking close up. Usually these modelers are tired of the glue, paint, thinner fumes and resort to these kinds of models. My opinion is that they ARE difficult to cut , glue and assemble, there is no need to paint. But I also feel that the greatest part of building scale models is putting on a realistic finish that not only helps create a 3D image that “pops out at you” and is also a scale representation of the real subject. You cannot get that with the paper models. Sometimes the joke between some members at the club is “Anyone got a match?” Hope this answers your question.

here are alot of paper models http://www.freepapertoys.com/index.html

It’s not armour, but if you like motorcycles:
http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/entertainment/papercraft/

Shows how realistic some of these paper models can get.

Here you go Beav. It’s the Jawa sandcrawler. ITS FULLY TRACKED [:D] I thought it would be fun to build. This one is made of 110wt cardstock. You can print them out on .010 or .020 styrene too and use as a scratchbuilding start. I haven’t done that yet [:(]

While were on the subject of paper models. Does anyone happen to know where a pattern for a paper Tiger, Sherman, or any other tanks might be?

all i can say is DAMN!

http://www.freepapertoys.com/pt-motorcycle.html

look there, there’s a bunch of stuff incluidng that one link i mentioned in the last post.

i found the plans for a paper one of those, but the page isn’t there anymore. the had a bunch of starwars ones; x-wing, tie fighter, AT-AT, probe bot, sandcrawler, and others.

i built that sandcrawler out of paper, didn’t turn out that good.

His stuff is still here:

But apparenetly someone was selling his stuff on e-bay and this mad him a little upset. I don’t blame him a bit. It just makes it bad for the rest of us [:(]

Wow!! I wonder what it would be like to make a dio out of paper!![:p][:p]

Actually I am now doing a scratchbuild AT-ST, using the papermodel parts as a template.

Indeed they can’t be downloaded anymore, but I have them as well as those for the AT-AT and the Tie-fighter (which I built in paper very nice result).

ps have a look at http://www.3dpapermodel.com.tw/ you will find thousends of free models there, ranging from childishly easy to very complex, and from just about any subject you can dream of (including armor).

It means, you can drop kick them, and they will not get broken! That M5, is something though, hard to believe it is paper

What did You decide about paper models? Wish You to try glue tanks? I know many models like Agand`s Stuart, nobody believes that it is paper. Some friends make only standard version, but i like valorize my tanks. For me the most important is scale ,then I connect plastic and paper-card models.Somebody ask about paper diorama-You can see at http://www.gpm.pl/ On diorama are stugIII and sdkfz 252.Reagards Piter
