This is my entry to the Italeri GB (#1). I know that I’m a bit late [:-^], but decided to post pics anyway. This is the Zvezda offering and I used Eduard’s PE.
I did a lot of scrachbuilding on this one. This is my 2nd completed model.
I also tried to play with my camera’s settings. The last few pics were focused on the interior.
nice build…I assume the thing just rolled off of the factory assembly line as it is practically spotless…there is a whole debate on whether or not to muck up a model…some say you have to in order to achieve field realism; others say they are modeling the tank, not the earth…LOL
heya Jean-Michel!![:D]-- absolutely beautifully built, excellently weathered and awsomely photographed!!-- I know you had a couple of problems earlier in this buld, but man o man you got everything squared away and the results where worth the wait!![tup][tup]-- just a great looking model-from the scratch built tow cable,to the delicate p.e.- I hope others appreciate the subtle weathering as much as I do-- some times (IMHO) less is more-- it lets the beauty of the actual tank and build shine through-- this one goes into ‘my favorites’ on my hard drive – excellent work my friend!!— tread[8D]
Thanks Manstein. I’m still new at weathering, so I tried to go easy on it. I’ll grime the next one more.[;)] You kinda have a point for the breech. I will probably retouch the breech block as that area would wear out quick.
Thanks brother Tread [:D] I appreciate a lot. I had quite a few inconvenients, as you said, but managed to learn lots from them. Really honored being into your favorites [8D]
I rather enjoy subtle weathering, but I will try to get better at heavier one just for the heck of it [:D]
Gosh, Treadwell–please don’t encourage Meanstein, er, I mean Mannstein…as far as the build goes, I think it’s a beautiful build; well detailed and at first glance, a little clean for me, but then I can see the dust on the shot of the rear…subtle, and done very nicely if that’s your style, ie, the “clean Camp”. I got no criticism to give–a beautifully done panzerjaeger!!![#toast]
Its nice to see a clean model. Seems like most folks just go overboard with the weathering and it ends up taking away from the machine. Maybe just a little contrast with the gun would be nice. A bit of pencil lead here and there. Otherwise it looks great. Panzer grey rules…
All your perseverence paid off Jean. Many in this thread might not have seen the whole process, it was quite impressive. I love the wood handles and the markings among the many things you did. You still earn that badge my friend.
Don’t worry about the weathering, there’s nothing wrong with it. To each his own.
How would you rate the kit? I’d like a PzI into my collection but I don’t have the chutzpah to tackle a Tristar or a Dragon release, especially with the miniscule indie link.? Are those the original (rubber) tracks?
Thanks Eric, I appreciate [:D] Even if I didn’t quite made it in the time frame, I had lot of fun with the GB and this build. Now that I’m done, I’m waiting for Dragon to annonce a newly tooled Panzerjager I to go along their Panzer I serie [;)]
Yes Agamemnon, these are the original rubber track. I’m just to cheap to buy better ones [:-^]
Also why I scratchbuilt that tow cable [(-D]
The kit is not bad at all, if you are willing to put the extra effort in it, it can look quite good. For 20 $ CAN, I felt it was really decent. I also built the Panzer I from Zvezda and liked it. With some PE, I was happy with both of these kits.
Thanks, I might just buy one for my collection, it’d be nice to feature one alongside my Sturer Emil (though first I’d have to actually finish that one…).
