working on this tank. DML kit, the guy is from Dragon.also
I wasn’t concerned with his legs or feet etc.since only his torso will be sticking up through the hatch on the tank.
also started working on the road wheels there gonna take forever!

The figure will be better like you built it even if hanging inside w/o standing on anything. The hatch is big enough in 1/35 scale that his feet can be seen with proper light & angle.

The tank crew man looks like he is having a bad day! Possibly the lighting JT, next time try adding more red & pink to the skin tones.

Looks good so far James. Interesting approach there, too. You weather your road wheels before you put them on the tank? I’ve never done that. Is there a benefit? I hate all aspects of doing road wheels…

Jon,it allows you to give attention to each wheel like it is it’s own kit.Tedious yes,but you can’t argue with his results.Also it alows you to give full attention to the area around and behind the wheels.I am going to try it on the Jagdtiger I am doing.

You know, I’ve often told myself something similar in that I should treat each piece like its own kit, but never in regards to weathering really, mostly in regards to painting it. I guess I’ve never thought about it, perhaps I worry that I won’t be able to establish a uniform finish that way. Like the mud, or dust won’t appear correct from one road wheel to the next.

This one is shaping up to be impressive!
starting to blend in some color modulation.
It allows like said above each wheel to be treated individually.
Painting the rubber portion, some newer ones in primer red or even another camouflage color. I assemble the wheels & tracks after painting them. Blue poster putty makes excellent masks for the wheel stubs as paint layers can cause too tight of fits and render solvent cement useless.
JT has shown how well individual wheels can be modeled using his technique.[Y]
