Ok so here is my newly completed Panzer III L (tamiya) The kit was beautiful, and mine came with around 8 Panzer grenaidiers, and a commander. It also had a metal barrel(a nice one) It was a good, simple kit, and the tracks were loose enough to glue them down nicely with superglue.
Hope you enjoy!~
Oh yeah, sorry about the dark coloring, but i had to do this extremely quickly-because it was another ‘black’ op against my sister (her camera, and she would kill me if she found out) Maybe i will get more pics sometime…
Looks real nice Beav. Are there decals to be put on or did that tank not have any? That is a nice kit- I picked one up a while back and probably will pick another one up. The Pz III is a favorite of mine. Are you going to do the figures, too? Me, I am waiting unti I get a little better
Sorry, but the pics are a bit dark to critique. I have the same kit and am finishing mine hopefully soon. It’s a great fitting kit and I highly recommend it.
Only suggestion I’d have, based on the new pics, is to weather up the running gear and tracks a bit. The wheels are very bright/shiny in contrast to the rest of the finish. A little bit of dust or dirt would add tremendously to the finish IMHO. Very nice clean build and paintjob, the Tamiy Pz III-L is a great little kit. I’ve still got spares from two that I build in my box with the figures and such, stashed away for a rainy day. [:D]
I know that the wheels are shiny, but i guess we agree that for all purposes, that this one is done…only problem with german armor is their use of rubber roadwheels in that double form…so much to paint…lol
I hear you! I’m frantically working to finish the same kit before my next G.B. The new photos are way better than the old. I agree with Bill about dusting up the running gear. Not much rust in Africa that is for sure, but dusty nonetheless. You must have AM tracks? Nice wear along the turret area.
Actually, the tracks are the oob vinyls, I achieved the nice result, but using superglue to hold them down, while pressing down with my fingers. Then when that was resonably dry, i rubberbanded some 55gal drums(1/35 of course) on top, to keep the sag shape, and then added more super glue…it helped that the tracks were a bit loose already…
The turret wear was an unwanted sideeffect, have no idea what caused my light tan paint which i was scrubbing with to turn parts to black…
And I will get on those roadwheels when my halftrack needs to be painted…
A tip for road wheels. Put a touch of thinner on the wheel by the hub, then touch a small brush such as an “O” with alittle thinned down paint. It will run beautifully around the hub. Let it dry and go back and fill it in.I can do a set of wheels in about 15-20 min. Nice kit by the way.[2c]
