Panther splinter camo?

Any good idea for replicating the woodland type splinter camo on a 1/25th Academy Panther. You know what kind I mean, looks like leaves all over the main camo colors. Is it just a case of cutting 500 tiny pieces of tamiya masking tape!!!
Thanks in advance,
Jim.

I think you are referring to “ambush” schemes and thier variations. I can only tell you what I do, it may not be the best method, but it is pretty easy. Go ahead with the three tone pattern as usual, Red brown , Dark yellow, and Green. Then, just make a small set of templates with your splinters, dots leaves or what ever, lay over the base coat and spray with the contrasting color. If tigerman responds to this post, take a look at the Panther in his signature.

Steve

Is this what you are referring to?

If so it is the ambush scheme as crockett mentioned. This one is hard edged and the leaves were applied using a trimmed down toothpick. I cut aout 1/4 of the taper off and then ust touched the toothpick to the paint. if there was a ball of paint on the toothpick i used a paper towel to wick some off and then used the it like a stamper.
If you want a soft edged scheme use an airbrush set real fine.

This is an example of a splinter camo.

Hey Peridexion where can i found more pictures like the one you put i like that camo…

Gabriel salazar[:D]

how about some real black and whites of splinter camo , wiking div hungary 1944 I think

For the ambush scheme, I used a #5 spotter brush with thinned down paint and just dabbed. There are many different ambush schemes. I for one have never seen a picture of the triangular leaf type used on a real tank. If anyone has one, I’d be interested.

Tigerman: I paint my Hetzer with triangles because I saw a picture of a 1/16 model in the internet and I love the scheme, but here’s some pictures for you.

Do you have any pictures of your models you can show us? please!

Gabriel Salazar…

Thanks Gabriel. They almost look like bowties. LOL I’m afraid I don’t have much to share other than my Panther in my sig and some pictures of my Sturmtiger. It’s in a thread called “My humble Sturmtiger”. Not good quality pictures.

Gabriel, this is the same site we all throw around;

Nice color shots, but you need to know which scheme belongs where.
