theres no proof that the Panther Ausf G Dragon do were made let alone saw combat
Tamiyas nightfighting Panther did see combat and there were units with them
If you have the opportunity, pick up a copy of Osprey “Panther Variants 1942-45”. There is an excellent black and white photo of a Panther G with the FuG1250 mounted on the cupola. The Dragon kit provides three scopes, commander, gunner and driver. There is no evidence that a Panther was ever deployed using all three. It was in fact under development at Patterborn at wars end. I have used this photo to model the subject below, this is the Dragon kit:

There is no documented evidence that the system was ever deployed in combat, however, unofficial accounts do exist of a few Panthers utilizing the FuG 1250 in special Kampfgruppe during the final struggle in Berlin. I think I have the web site marked in my favorites, I will search and get back with you.

i havent seen the tamiya version yet so what model panther is theirs based on?? and captain thanks for your quick reply
thanks crocket your panther looks great if you could find the link that would be great
Sorry, can’t seem to find that link, I’ll keep looking…
how is half of it wrong?
the one in the photo on page 9 in Panther variants is the one Tamiya have out
the Dragon nightfighter isnt in any photos, theres a Fake photo of one in Concords Panther book
i have loads of Panther books
in one of them theres an acount of some units equiped with them, that saw combat and had an engagment with a group of Comets at night
theres loads of photos about with Panthers with the nightvision boxs on the back
Hey Jon, simmer down buddy, I misread your post, (I just got up), I have edited mine, it’s my fault, I apologize.
Sorry,
Steve

its got the same photo crockets got
Tamiyas Panther is the one with steel wheels, you get the option for the wheels os the IR, you get 3 IR sets
its the Panther Ausf G
thanks captain alot of good info there thanks again
no need to apologize[:)] no problem
i wasnt sure what you ment before with the half, so i just tried to make sence[;)]
The Dragon kit comes with Three sets (i think) of the other type of IR device
its ment to be a great kit, and well worth the money
yeah i saw it today for 30 bucks and thats cheap considering my panther late from dragon cost me 50 so i think i’ll have to buy it tommorrow with the mid production tiger they had, so thanks again
Speilberger’s Panther und Seine Abarten (Panther and it’s variants) from Motorbook Verlag does a comprehensive study of the particular units as well the specifics of the IR optics they used.

Here are a couple of internet references for night-fighting Panthers. There is even a Finescale article.
