Looks like an early G w/ zimm being crewed by some Brits who probably are evaluating here…camo is probaly dark yellow w/ red-brown mottling…
That’s a picture of the famous “Cuckoo”, a Panther G captured and re-used by the 6th Coldstream guards against the Germans. It was completely repainted in a dark color (SCC15?) but photos show some of it wearing off, revealing bits of the dark yellow beneath. It had a large white star in a white circle painted on both sides of its turret. Another photo, form the same series shows this:

Definitely not the German 3 tone camo but the British painted dk color.
Later, Cuckoo is photographed with sprayed on whitewash stripes.
You should google “cuckoo panther”. It’s been modelled a few times in magazines.

Funny enough this kitty is one that I have planned too, it’s just a matter of getting the correct pattern zimmerit.

Thanks guys for your help… I’ll start pretty soon…
If combat isn’t scary enough, how about jumping into the other sides equipment and run the risk of both sides shooting at you.
Cuckoo is an early G with a typical horizontal zimmerit pattern. Like most zimmed G’s, it has zimmerit on the lower glacis, lower hull sides (behind the wheels) and rear. The Cavalier set for the Panther G early works well.
Note that the light colored areas in your photo are either where the zimmerit has chipped off, meaning Dark Yellow or bare metal underneath, or leftover whitewash from the brief peroid when Cuckoo was camouflaged for a light snowfall. The OD paint itself doesn’t seem to have worn much, and it seems that it was a very thorough coat because the German colors don’t show through anywhere, except where the zimmerit is chipped.
Here is a photo of Cuckoo in whitewash, which is the way I’ll be building it:

The link clames to state the origin of the picture.

Hermesminiatures,
Originally I was going to build a Panther G Late with winter camo’ for the Winter Warrior Group Build. I was sent a real cool camo’ pattern by a fellow forum member. I’m switching to a Russian SU122 but still real interested in the Panther. I’m excited to see how your project progresses. Are you in the GB with your Panther?
I’m still trying to decide betweeen Cuckoo and a Finnish T-34/85…maybe I’ll do both.
Even if I don’t do it for Winter Warriors, I’ll be building Cuckoo sometime within the next few months.
I looked at a couple of sets of Cavalier panther G zimmerit and couldn’t be sure that they were right. I now have an Atak set for DMl kit #6268 that looks pretty close.
