panther F wheels

i just have two more questions about the panther F. sorry guys, i am new at modeling and just finished a Panzer IV, Ausf F-1 which I am very proud of. anyway, some have suggested using a red oxide color as it came out of the factory in the late stages of the war. what tamiya spray color (if any) is comprable to this? also, i need to know if there were rubber on the wheels or if they were sold stell. all of the panther models i have seen have the flat black around the wheels but i have never seen a panther f done. the directions do not call for it and i know 90% of what id done to the model is far beyond what the directions recommend but i was just wondering becasue this is very important in establishing realism. thanks a million for your help.

Takea look at the first is rubber road wheels second is steel wheeled

Rubber types will look more dished steel wheeled is flat

Sean, the Panther F was proposed with steel wheels similar to the Tiger II. The wheels were mounted on rubber dampeners that took the “shock” so there was no need for the outer rim of rubber as before. So no the edges of the wheels would be bare steel. The Panther in my sig below has steel wheels. I used graphite powder rubbed on the edges to simulate the shiny steel…

hey thanks guys, now i can finally get to painting!!!

Sean,
The Tamiya color that best represents Red Oxide primer is “Hull Red”…[:)]
