Well here is my Panther D Kursk with color on it. I wanted to do a single color vehicle as I hadnt done one in a while. I used MM Panzer Dark Yellow as a base and then attempted to post shade using my new gravity feed airbrush. I think I screwed up. What do you think?
I looked at the pictures before I read the text. (Hmmm… sounds like another magazine[whstl])
I was thinking that it looked like the was some subtle color modulation going on there. It looks good but I wonder if you will loose all the effect after it is weathered.
Looks good from here in terms of a foundation. Kit-supplied finishing guides will only take you so far. Due to the time of year, the vast majority of Kursk vehicles were painted with field-applied green over the DY finishes. Having said that, the Panther Ds were actually rushed to the front in order to be on hand in time for the Kursk offensive (so much so that they hadn’t completed all of their trials yet and numerous mechanical problems plagued them as a result) and so may not have had the field applied camo scheme added, so you’ve got some leeway either way if you want to stay with the plain DY or go with the camo approach IMHO.
