I wondered if anyone could clarifiy a few things for me. I’ve been looking into a particular late production Panther G, although different references I find are confusing me.
Do you think these following pictures are the same vehicle?
If so, should it be a two or three colour scheme? Perhaps one of these images is using an artistic license?
And While I’m at it, could anyone provide any reference shots of this one?
It’s from Panzer Division Muncheberg, I’m not sure if the yellow stripes continue over the top hull, and if so, do they continue in a straight fashion or spagetti like
I don’t believe they are the same. For one thing look at the exhaust pipes sticking out of the bushes in the first picture. Later on they started installing the larger bore exhaust instead of the muffler type with the smaller pipe. As well the crew would have probably taken the MG34 from the turret roof, but not the Anti air frame.

I think your top three are supposed to represent the same vehicle. The modeler took some artistic license with his build. I think it’s a two color scheme, but it’s hard to say with only a single black and white photo to go on. As far as the Muncheberg tank, I don’t really know. I’d guess the lines carry on over the top of the vehicle because late in the war air attack was a primary concern regardless of the front being served on.

You are probably right, I believe the two colour scheme could be correct. With some imagination you can see where the black and white photo has areas of darker staining: ( on upper side of mantlet, just above the turret number and on the rear hull side) these coincide with where the modeller has perhaps chosen to portray Red-Brown to his build. Regardless, he did a really nice job.
Black 333:
I have now seen 3 variations to the “black 333” Munchenberg April 1945 scheme. Tamiya has a pattern in their 1/16th kit “Breslau April 1945”, And Topcolors has a diagram for 5th Panzer Battalion, 25th Panzer Grenadier Division East Berlin, April 1945. I presume they are once again interpretations of the same tank, perhaps taken from a rare black and white photo that I can’t manage to find.
