Hard to tell what the turret numbers are. Based on what I have learned, I am thinking a plain gelb tank is the way to go. Not quite sure what to do about the numbers, however. I might just pick some from the spares box.
I say go with it JWest. Killing yourself with complete historical accuracies will keep you held up for a long time. [:)] Verlinden’s Zim is brass correct? If it is…I have some good techniques that work well on making sure that it goes on seemless. I used to be the zim guru of the forums…before I went on an extended hiatis after my duaghter was born [B)]

Mo,
Any tips you have for using PE Zimmerit would be appreciated! This will be my first time using it, so any help is appreciated. Your right about killing myself with historical accuracies. It’s seems I have a touch of OCD…
Oh- and I understand the hiatus with a new daughter. I have a three year old and a 11 month old and I don’t get much time to build anything. (I was working on a Pazer Mk. III before the three year old trashed my decals).
goodness!
a Moses sighting !! [:D]
not to worry, you are STILL the zim guru.
no one is after that mantle! [:p]
welcome back. i trust the wife & daughter are doing well.
allow me to plant a subliminal message

JWest - sorry, i can offer no help on the Zim front.
i will keep my eyes open, but i am not full of hope.
Thanks wildwilliam. Not much hope here, either.
Here is the eduard zim set on my early A, I searched high and low for an early or late A with diamond zim and could not find one. This pattern most accurately represents early A factory applied zim, maybe you should go this route.

THATS what I had hoped to get. My mistake was ordering it on a laptop where I could barely see the picture. I thought it was more like that, but I guessed wrong. Chalk that up to a learning experience
Hey wildwilliam long time bud. Ya been getting back in the swing of things here. I am near completion of my Tiger 1 Mid Pro that I posted ages ago with full zim…hopefully I could get pics up by weeks end. I have a nice Stug III F that has had my eye for a long time…maybe it is time to break open the goodies. I’ll post in that thread.
JWest…I use MSN and my MSN account is moses96thid@hotmail.com. If you ever need any help regarding using that brass zim, never hesitate to message me.
Cheers
Mo
Moses, I sent you an e-mail with a couple of general questions. Thanks for the help!
Glad to see you again Moses.
Welcome back, Mo. We have all missed hearing from you!
Hey Bill…great to see ya old man. Yeah I am back in full form. Glad to be back and tell that old man up North I’m keeping my eye out for him [;)]
I don’t think Robert’s on much anymore. I haven’t seen any posts by him for a while. But sure glad to have you back! We’ve tried to muddle through giving zimm advice here and there where we could, but you da man!
Congrats, again, on your daughter.
does the Verlinden damaged zimmerit fit the Panther A that Dragon just recently released or is for an older kit, i ordered the new one from Great Models but i read that all Panther As had zimmerit coating on it, and i would like to go aftermarket on it instead of getting headaches with the paste.
I test fit it to the 60th anniversary release and it seems to match up. Before you buy it, you might want to see what other Zimmerit sets are available. The damaged look it really neat, but all Panther A reference pictures either have a horizontal tiled look or a ridged/combed look. This is a diamond pattern and I have looked high and low for an example of one like this with no luck. I am trying to figure out what color or what numbers to use. I am considering buying a different tiled set
im sure the diamond pattern was used, but i can see pictures being extremely hard to come by, im sure there out there somewhere. ill start doing some digging.
If you find anything, please let me know! I have checked out Squadron’s book (there is an example of a turret on pg 31 that is close, but not it) and Osprey’s Panther book with no luck. I looked a lot online too. E-mail me if you get anything. jason@ronwestagency.com
The Tankpower Series by Waldemar Trojca has some pics of Panthers with the diamond pattern zimm.
The books can be bought from www.abebooks.com. Not sure which book in the series has the pics but I know there are some there, I was just looking at the diamond pattern last night.
Hope this helps!
