Panda 1:35 UH-1D

What’s your opinion on this kit people… I’m considering picking one up for a diorama scene.

PLEASE! Do your self a favor…DON’T BUY the 1/35 Panda UH1-D kit!

Its not very accurate and the rivits are over sized!

The 1/35 MRC kits are MUCH better!

If you want UH1-D the best is still the older Revell 1/32 kit! not bad at all…lots of research went into those kits and good detail.

I have an extra around here somewhere…I will know in the next few days if its spoken for or not…E-mail me …maybe we can do a kit trade or something?..or its yours for 20.00 + shipping.

This kit was released as a Revell of Germany a while ago and it may not be available right now?

I totally agree with Papa-Ehco-64. Stay away from the Panda UH-1D it’s not worth the money. Not an accurate model at all.

I agree, the Panda kit is well below acceptable standards… makes me wonder what we’ll observe when we open the upcoming Chinook kits? [:0]

Personally, I always liked the old Revell UH-1D/H’s… other than the transparencies and front door hinges, which can be modified easy enough, it was apparently researched close enough to make it a workable project. Got one in my closet now that’s keeping me up at night crying out… “Build me next…build me next!!”

The revell kit’s nose is so out of scale though! At least the panda’s nose iss much closer. After crewing hueys for years, i would have to say get rid of those huge rivets ,fix the main and tail rotors and alot a scratch building you will have a good kit. The Revell kit’s nose is just too out of wack!!!

You are right about the nose of Revell’s Huey being incorrect. It’s hard to blieve that no one can make a decent model of the UH-1D/H/V after so many years. It’s the combined Jeep and C-47 of WW II for Vietnam. It’s downright disrespectful! At least MRC did a good job on the UH-1C’s. Maybe they will take a hint one of these days! Another old Huey Crew Chief!

Melgyver, You said it brother. I am on active duty right now. I get to crew chief UH-1Vs almost every day!!! I love them! It makes me mad that no one took the time to do a good slick kit other the ESCI. However, Panda’s copy of the Italeri kit should work. I plan on just sanding off the rivets. You really would have a hard time seeing them anyway in that scale. You gotta do what you can!

HATS OFF TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED AND WHO IS SERVING NOW!

Happy Vets day all![8D]

“…Well below acceptable standart…”, “…Not very accurate…”, “…Not worth the money…”…That ’ s well said BUT…If you ’ re in the 1/35th business, the Panda model ’ s the only ONE !
Could you be more precise in your critics…? Which parts ’ re definitely wrong…? How many centimeters of plastic must be added to the rotor blades to make them accurate…? Is the shape of the plastic thingy utterly & horrendously wrong…?
In short…How could we IMPROVE this kit ? It ’ s easy to be severe but it ’ ll be better to tell us what ’ s " truly wrong "…If I could say that !
Of course, the MPC UH-IC ’ s much better, but it ’ s an -C, so…?! To me, the Panda kit looks like a 70’s model kit…Poor or oversized details, lot of job, but still a good base to work on…And, sadly or not, it ’ s the ONLY 1/35th UH-1D to date !

How about for a crash huey dio? Is it possible to mess it up a bit to hide the inaccuracies?

Okay, it’s not horrendous, but isn’t up to “todays” standards. I guess some of us got spoiled by the “good” stuff! The overall shape it right, just the inattention to details. For the price it should be a whole lot better. I’m not home right now or I would drag it out and nit pick it for you. I guess it doesn’t help I crewed Hueys for 8 out of my 10 years Active and Reserve in the Army. It’s been over 20 years since my last flight in one, but I can still remember details that are not even considered in Panda’s kit. Come on MRC make a “real” UH-1D/H/V! I’m sure they would inculde the mounts for the M-60’s or a rescue hoist for the Medevac’s. I still have the quick release pins for my M-60 's when I crewed in Nam.
