Panda 1/16 38t

Been a while since I was on FSM forum. I thought i’d share a project that I have been working on for some time.

The Panda 1/16 scale PzKpfw 38t. As you can see there are a large number of scratch built parts and details. Pretty much every tool bracket has been re built along with the fenders. I also added numerous other details and changes to the basic kit and not all of them are obvious.

The Panda kit is a good kit for the most part and would look fine built out of the box. It is however very simplifed when it comes to the fine details. A lot of rivets are missing from the kit and had to be added and the tool brackets are only vague representations of the real thing. On a large scale kit this sort of short cut really shows. So… I spent months pouring over walk around photos I found on the internet. Squadrons book is of little help since the museum piece they photographed is missing nearly every small fitting and bracket. Fenders were re-tooled from aluminum sheet while the various brackets were made from brass, copper, lead and styrene sheet. Meng bolts were also a big help…

And now with a basic Dark Grey paint on…

Impressive K-dawg!

Sounds like the Panda 38t is more toy than scale miniature, at that scale all the tool clasps should work.

Your fenders and other scratch built items look great!

Being a Hetzer fan this would be the perfect base for a large scratch built conversion.

It’s not terrible, just basic… Good for a detail job. I’m hoping they’ll do a hetzer. Unfortunately there a virtually no interchangeable parts. Even the road wheels are different sizes. A better choice would be a Marder III conversion.

Good to see you back on! Nice work on the tank!

Welcome back, that is a very impressive build

Thanks. It’s been a challenge for sure.
