Pan Am Clipper documentary

I had mentioned this documentary in another forum and thought I would also post the link here. It originally aired on PBS and you can also stream it directly from the website. Amazon Prime also has it available.

The Pan Am Clippers always fascinated me but until I watched the documentary I never realized how significant an undertaking it really was. The project was almost like the moon shot of it’s day. Anyhow I enjoyed it and hope some of you will as well.

Thanks Gil.

I’ll take a look.

Thanks for the link.

Stay Safe.

There is a good book that covers most of the same material. It was published awhile ago, so used copies are available.

Steve and Jim, you’re welcome.

Don, thanks for the heads up about the book I’ll do some looking.

I know I have the book still in my library, but the latter is in disarray at the moment and I cannot find it. I’ll post info when I find it.

While stationed in Hawaii, I resided in the military housing area on the Pearl City Penninsula, all of a block and a half away from the pier that the Clipper pulled into back in the day. I used to fish off that pier. It’s one of the perks of being a historian, in that you know what happened there years back. Kinda fun actually.

Thanks Don and no worries. I am all too familiar with the concept of disarray. I refer to my piles as a "vertically chronological filing system”, meaning throw the latest thing on top[;)]. Basically that means every effort to find something is like an archeological dig[:D]

Wow that’s really cool! Definitely one of those cases where you wish the boards of that pier could talk.

And by the way thank you for serving this great country.
