Can anyone tell me any tried and true techniques to accurately painting the webbing and straps on 1/35 German figures? I have been out of this hobby for a few years now and have always struggled with this area of figure painting. Cheers, Mark
To be convincing there needs to be shadows & highlights. One way is to paint the strap flat black and build up the color on top. The uppermost surfaces need highlights and will be lighter.
Leave a thin black outline on the strap sides to represent shadows. This way the last color application is the easiest to apply, the hard part is the crisp outlines that outline the detail, which was done first.
The best results seems to had by laying down a black base and later applying very thin orange glazes
