Painting tank commander helmet

Dear forum,

Would someone be able to tell me the appropriate color for painting the helmet of an abrams m1a1 tank commander’s helmet…I’m painting his uniform the camo green pattern worn in kosovo 1999.

The CVC helmet as issued has a medium green, rough texture flat paint. Some individuals take liberties and repaint the fiberglass helmet shell black (see my signature). Whether this was allowed in Kosovo I don’t know. I have also covered the shell with a camoulflage cover.

Here are a few good pics of how a CVC helmet looks.

Inner webbing is a OD green with black leather near the ears for attaching the chin strap. Earphones ar black as well. Outer shell is a dark green, can also be repainted sand for desert climates, or black. I have also seen the shells repainted in colorful schemes kinda like pilots helmets.

That’s just what the doctor ordered…I know I’ve said it before, but you are the armor guru especially when it comes to this abrams stuff…Will be sure to post pics of the m1a1 when completed…
