I’m an airliner builder and I’m trying to find out the best way to paint the silver wings. I’ve tried the SNJ aluminum. It either runs, pools or takes 3 or four coats to cover. Any tips on how to do this better or another idea. [?]
Try Testors Model Master Metalizer Aluminum. You will have to either use the metalizer sealer, or a clear coat, as it is a delicate paint, and can’t be handled. It rubs off on your fingers. Otherwise a very nice laquer paint.

I use Alclad II lacquers. I have had more success with them than the Metalizers (that’s just me of course). They go on easily, cover well, and give a very good finish!
If you use them, make sure to use a black primer coat – gloss enamel, or the Alclad gloss black primer work best.

I’ll throw in with Lee. Testors Model Master Aluminum Plate (Non-buffing) is the one to use for a natural metal finish. Its easy to apply and handle and has no bad tricks. If you use Testors metalizer sealer over it, you won’t have any problems. Future also goes over it and leaves it bright and shiny. Haven’t tried Alclad II aluminum yet, but I have tried Alclad II Chrome. This stuff is wonderful. Its the best chrome substitute I’ve ever used.
