Painting Question,HELP!!

Hello I am doing the aztecing on my NX-01 that I did not do at first, but after I read it just does not look right I decided to rip it down and do it.I am using the gun metal paint it states to use, well it is real dark, how would I tone it down to look like the right shade? I heard that a metalizer would work, does anyone know about metalizers? Thanks

I’m no expert and have no idea on how to light down a metalic paint. But I have used three diferent gunmetals paints:
Tamiya gunmetal (X-10).- it’s an acrylic and is lighter one i have used.
MM Gunmetal.- It’s the darkest one. You should always thin this one.
MM Gunmetal metalizer.- It’s somewhat lighter than the none metalizer. You can try to hand brush it, but you have to do it twice since it’s already thinned to airbrush-ready consistency.
Here are a couple examples: the machinegun on the Hummer was painted with MM gunmetal (non-metalizer) enamel, while the machinegun on the stug was painted with the tamiya acrylic.

Hello

I am almost finished with my NX-01. For the paints, I used Tamiya Acrylics. Gun Metal X-10, Flat Aluminum XF-16, and Metallic Grey XF-56 (Steel). It turned out pretty good (grading my own homework again) [:D]

Tamiya acrylics apply smooth and dry quick. Very easyto work with. Also if you are going for a flat finish, you can thin with rubbing alcohol.

Hope this helps.
