edsamodler,
Your question is hard to interpret, but I think you’re trying to ask whether or not you should completely assemble a model and then paint it, or paint the pieces first and then assemble it after.

I think the answer is ‘somewhere in the middle’. I build various sub-assemblies to my models and then paint. After the various sub-assemblies are dry, I start putting them together to complete the model. There is always additional painting once the sub-assemblies come together, but it’s usually minor touch-ups and/or clear/flat coats. Note that going this route usually implies that you assemble the model differently than what is noted in the instructions. Some people are OK with building it their own way, and others need to go by the book.

Good luck!

This technique works for me. Put everything together you can that is the same color, when that is done then paint it. When that is done, all of the pieces left over, paint them and then add them on. Don’t worry about little surface detail, you can get to that with a brush and color it. I hope that made sense.

Good Luck

Paint before you build is my advice
