painting clear parts Q?

can anybody give any advice on how best to get nice clean lines on glass canopys, i’ve tried free hand, masking using tamiya masking tape, but still the paint seems to find it’s way onto the clear parts. help!!

Swanny has an excellent article in his “Tools and Tips” page of his website:

This works quite well, but it does require patience. So hurry up and get some patience!

I use Bare Metal Foil to mask canopies. It’s ultra thin so the canopy framing easily shows through and follows compound curves. Apply it to the "glass and burnish it around the edges of the framing. With a brand new blade in your knife you should be able to follow along the framing and get crisp lines to your canopy. Also be sure to lightly spray the paint on so that it dries quickly and won’t bleed through.
