Just getting back into the hobby after a lengthy absence. I am looking for suggestions to paint the correct color for an A6M2b Zero, kit manufacturer Hasegawa. I want to go with the green depicted on the box, but the instructions describe this color as “Mitsubishi Green”. I can’t find this anywhere, so I know I will have to mix my own colors. I am using enamels and will be airbrushing.
If you can find IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) Green, that should do it. I believe Gunze Sangyo has a line of enamels, and Model Master definately has IJN Green.
Not to be confused with IJA Green.
If you get a chance, Whte Ensign Models makes a nice line of “authentic” enamels and would have exactly what you are looking for.
For Japanese aircraft, I just use standard dark green. That’s usually what other model instructions call for. I know there is a specific dark green but I don’t have access to it. If you’re going to mix, just add a little black to medium green.

Well, I often use humbrole No.30 "Matt Dark Green" to paint green IJN wings.
If you don't care to use lacquer paint, you can try new colour set which is released from **GAIANOTES**.
Those colour is based on true IJN colour chip, so it may be more accurate than other paints.

For enamels, ModelMaster IJN Green is a good match. If you prefer acrylics, Aircraft Colors, made by Vallejo, also has an IJN Green that is very good.

Tamaya arcylics also makes a good IJN green. I painted my B6N2 Jill and was very pleased with it

Tamiya came out with their IJN Green just for their 1/32 zero a few years back, so that is a good bet if you want acrylic. They also came out with interior kit for the same kit.
