I’ve purchased the Dragon 1/35 T-72M2, as you know, that kit comes with one figure, but it seems more like a monkey than a man… well, with a little patience I made it look more like a man, so I want to paint it, but I don’t know how to… I the instruction sheet says that I must paint the uniform black… is that correct?.. I don’t know anything about modern Russian uniforms… Any help would be appreciated… Thanks in advance.
hi,zero good question? but i do believe i,ve seen russians in black uniforms on parade, but if you see footage from afganistan they are wearing the usual drab green with a black padded helmet. i wish i could help you more. mike
the black is a dress uniform i believe
in combat they dress like most every other modren soldier
so it’s not like the whole black leather thing they got during wwII?
The Russian tank crews started wearing black leather jackets late in WW II, probably after capturing German tankers. The German tankers (primarily the SS crews) started wearing U-Boat leather jackets around 1944. The Russians were always good at taking an idea and running with it. So yes, painting a modern Russian tanker with a black jacket is appropriate, for as far as I know they still use them. Those leather helmets are still dark brown, though… no points for matching the outfit, I guess. I believe the cloth uniform is still dark green or khaki drab, so the figure would have green pants with the black jacket.
This is T-62 main battle tank in Afganistan but the uniforms are the same as this of the T-72 crews…

Hope this helps [:)]
