painting a panther...

A little while ago, I posted some pictures of some finished models that I had completed. A few of you (yah, only two if I recall) had questions on how I finished my models. Well, it has taken me a few weeks, but I have gotten around to posting a guide to how I paint my models. Here is the link and I hope at least a few of you find a useful tip or two.[:)]

Great site! And at a perfect time for me, I’m just out of the basecoat stage. I pre-shaded though but I may hit it lightly with red brown to post. I was thinking about hitting it with some Buff right before the final clear to sort of dust it down a little. I’m hesitant about painting over gloss with flat, it doesn’t craze or crack? I know we are talking about a very small, thin coat but covering gloss with clear goes against all I was ever taught about paint in general; you always go up in sheen, never down.

Excellent instructions E!

Nice job, Edog,

You, closet teacher, you !
Great pictures and great instructions!

Thanks. I actually really neaded something like that. Was that in 1/72? I could read it but I am running late to school.

Guilty as charged. I was probably wondering…
Anywhoo, didn’t expect a site as an answer, but I can’t complain.
Thanks for posting! [:D]

Ausf, I have had great luck with putting a dull coat over gloss. Not once have I seen crazing or cracking. I have also seen several others use this method without problems. Give it a try, you might like it.[:D]

Scubaboy, it is 1/35th

Hope some of you can at least get something out of it and PLEASE if you guys have any suggestions about the site, the article, painting techniques, or anything at all, let me know!! I am always in need of help.

Eric, I posted on the Panther GB thread, but I’ll say it again here, great job! Thanks!!

Very help full now I am always afraid to do a wash on my tanks for fear I will mess them up. Now when applying a wash do you use a brush or airbrush? I have read a few things on how to apply them but still a little cunfused.[%-)]

I use a brush for washes.

Nice site E-dog.

I still think it looks wonderful!

Nice work very helpful as I am about to start using acrylics after a break from modeling for about 10 years.
Thanks
