that looks really good Stuka!![tup] i’ve been wanting to get around to doing one of those camo jobs for awhile now. good job. later.
I’m always looking for the planes which have the complicated paint schemes as it gives me a challenge and improves my painting skills
we are kindred spirits Stuka, i do the same thing. that spagetti camo has been calling my name for some time now!! and the subject you picked is exactly the one i had chosen. again, great job. later.
Hey saltydog what other aircraft do you know that have complicated paint schemes as I need a new kit to build?
Stuka_69,
“1/72 scale WHAT EVER!!!” Those were the first words out of my mouth when I read it. When I first looked all I did was look at the pics. I thought “Wow he must have built the Tauro kit”, you know the 1/48 scale kit. I have that one, the 1/48 one, and it is small to begin with. BUT 1/72 SCALE, WOW WOW WOW, great job. Hey question for ya, what color did you do the bottom of the wings? I see pics where some are light blue and others are the same color as the top. I plan to do my Tauro for the OOB GB, and now seeing yours, I really cant wait.
Thanks for the show.
Stuka,
Lovely job!! You really have to wonder at the sanity of those heading the Italian AF when they chose such difficult camo schemes!!
Also, can I ask you to elaborate a little further on your weathering trick? I am not sure that I quite understand it.
Many thanks …
Fine pics to go along with your equally fine build. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice! That was a pretty aircraft.
I love those WWII Italian camoflage jobs! One day I’ll try to put one of them onto a Panavia Tornado just for kicks!
Great build, thanks for sharing, keem em’ coming!
Hey skarpotchi
I used Gunze H67 for the under colour this gives a good light grey.I got this paint referance from the warbirds modelling magazine which gives a whole section on building and painting the 202&205 , I ordered it from Kalmbach last year.
For the weathering I used a technique that was demonstrated in Modelling Encyclopeidea [Aircraft] , I first mixed tamiyas acrylics using 2 parts flat black and 8 parts brown , I thinned this mix to the extreme with about triple amounts of thinner.
I used the sticky part of a post-it note placing it on the panel line I then cranked my airbrush down to a very fine line spraying it along the edge of the note with half the spray spraying onto the model this gave a nice faded line along the line.
That is a breathtaking paint job! I take my hat off to you Stuka, thats a great build-very well done indeed!
Darren.
Cheers Darren[:D]
there is an airplane on the table ? cant hardly see it, its got such a great camo on it ! [:)] keep us posted as it goes along !
