Paint Stripper Tray

While out shopping recently for frozen meals, here in Canada, to heat in the microwave at work [bgr] [pi] , I came across something called “VH Steamers”.

When I used it, I found that the package had two trays. One to hold the rice, chicken and other vegetables, and another under the first to hold the sauce. The upper one has small hole in it to allow the steam to heat the food.

An idea [I] came to mind that it might be of another use. I took the trays home and tried soaking some small parts (rifles, figures, etc) in paint removing solution. Works great with green stuff, allowing the parts to immerse in the solution and be easily removed later. Now the tray is only about 5 1/2 " across but it worked great for me. [whstl] [Y]

Don’t know if it works with enamel thinners but …

Great idea. I don’t buy those kind of prepared foods, but use old ‘retired’ plastic food storage containers (Rubbermaid, Glad, Tupper Ware, etc). You use those enough, they’ll eventually get warped, cracked and scratched up enough they need to be replaced. We pull them out of the kitchen and move them into the model room for paint stripper tubs, dust covers and parts storage trays. Most work perfectly well with the green or purple stuff, brake fluid and most thinners.
