I’ve read a lot of post on airbrushing and or hand brushing tamiya acrylics as far as thinning and retarder use I haven’t seen any post referring to tamiya paint retarder is this product worth buying or is there something better or more available. Any responses will be appreciated
I use tamiya retarder for airbrushing. It does help especially for longer sessions. Has eliminated clogs and the paint goes on smoother. The retarder was $3 and i do 1 to 10 ratio so the retarder will last a long time.
Tamiya Paint Retarder works well with their product . Being as how I use Automotive Lacquers a lot I use Dupont Retarder . Sure , the paint stays " Sensitive " longer but on gloss it just comes out so much glossier .
I bought some Vallejo Flow Improver, and used it with Tamiya NATO Black. I noticed a huge improvement in terms of dry tip. Have not tried using it for brush painting.
I’ve used Tamiya Retarder with their paints for handbrushing. It works well enough, but flat paints tend to have a bit of a sheen after they dry. I have not used it for airbrushing as their thinner and their paint have given me no need for that product when I airbrush.
