Well really to be honest I just wouldn’t paint , all the more so if it’s humid too. But if you want to try the redarder, why not mix up a small batch of paint to spray a scrap piece and see.
I use Liquitex retarder in my acrylic paints so I don’t have the answer to your specific question.
Unless you have somewhere air conditioned where you can paint. Just a thought.
Man,I don’t think I would want to model in 100+ plus heat, that would be just plain torture,a test of endurance, not fun.[6]
Seriously,no a/c ?
when you live here for so long you get use to it , I do get lovely cool breeze’s through my 2 window’s , and as the hot month’s are so long , it would cost a fortune to continuously run the RC . it’s just the paint doesn’t like it
.
I’d just give it a test try on something insignificant and see if it works, then come back and let us all know.
I’d suggest experimenting in steps-
first, to in order to see if the Tamiya retarder and Vallejo paint are even compatible, in a small cup, mixing the retarder with the paint. If you don’t end up with a gummy mess that will foul your airbrush, then go to the next step, trying it in your airbrush on a paint mule. You may have to adjust your mixing ratio of paint/thinner/retarder. If it works properly on your paint mule, then try it on a project that you actually care about.
Hey Steve, I’ll trade our snow, ice, and sub zero temps with ya buddy. Please?
Stiks advice seems sound. See how it reacts in a mixing cup before putting it in the AB. Let us know how it workes out.
I wouldn’t mix Tamiya anything with Vallejo anything, based on my experience with both.

Experiment away, though. One never knows.
thank’s for all the input guy’s , I was thinking along the line’s of greg and bit the bullet , and went online for some vallejo retarder , 60ml’s for $20 aust. delivered .really didn’t want to stuff up my airbrush’s .
I have never seen snow steve , so I can’t compare mate LOL .
Probably the best bet . And really most acrylics at least in my experience can use a little retarder anyway, even in good spraying conditions. So it won’t go to waste and you know it’s the right stuff.
As to the snow, some peple wouldn’t agree with me but really you’re better off never knowing what it’s like.
Bad time to be mentioning this since you already ordered Vallejo retarder, but…
Vallejo retarder will slow drying time. Vallejo Flow Improver will reduce dry tip. They can be used together but both do different things.
If I knew you were going to order products, I’ve have said more sooner. [:O]

Two winters living in the stuff in Europe was enough for me… nice to visit the stuff, but really don’t want to deal with it again long term every winter…
ah well greg , live and learn . just ordered some improver , it was cheaper too , will let you know what I learn .
