Paint for 1/48th scale

I keep seeing posts from people saying there are certain paints that are better for certain scales. I’m thinking they’re talking about the thinning ability and the actual thickness of the paint…I’ve had pretty good luck with Model Master acrylics for my 1/48 planes. Are there better paints for this scale?

Complicated formula:
Colo(u)r needed vs. colo(u)rs got
over
whatever you can get![:D]

It’s probably not different paints, but cutting/mixing them with white for scale effect. By mixing white to your colors you basically bring or make the color more to the scale that you are building in. In 1/35 or 1/32 scale, I normally mix to start a 50/50 ratio of basecoat and white to start with. This could also be a good starting point for 1/48th. Experiment on an old model for practice and to see what works for you.

What Doc said… In order to get a good match on a model, one needs to “scale down” the paint colors… There’s no “1.48th scale” Olive Drab, for instance, but you can give it a scale look by mixing the colors to lighten or darken them, as needed, also, the finish texture should be scaled. For instance, the Gloss Black on a factory-fresh P-61 Black Widow would be only a semi-gloss or satin in 1:48th scale… The gloss black is too intense and looks out of scale.
