hello all i have aquestion about the uniform colors for a late war luftwaffe pilot in flight gear (he’s the standing pilot that comes with r/m’s me262) and some ground crew figures, im pretty sure that they wore all black coveralls any ideas or thoughts? im using model master enamels and one of the ground crew is carrying some belted ammo over his shoulder (2 of the figures are from monograms old dornier do335 kit) any help would be greatly appreciated! thanx, dave
Hi, Dave,
there are no hard and fast answers to your question, but generally the ground crews wore black overalls with a brown belt, or black work jackets and trousers. Very dark grey may be a better choice, because it makes highlights and contrast easier to show.
For the pilot, a black leather jacket with field blue trousers is a safe option, though a black overall leather flying outfit is another option, and grey trousers were also worn. Remember that in 1/48, you don’t have to ad every last detail - just giving an impression is good enough. The pictures in this diorama:

might give you some ideas.
Cheers,
Chris.
thanx for the response chris. i was pretty sure of the colors of the ground crew and i really appreciate your help with the pilot once again thanx! dave
